Preston North End: Kevin Davies hopes to continue playing

Preston striker Kevin Davies insists he is capable of playing another season even if the newly-promoted Championship side do not offer him a new deal. The once-capped England forward, 38, whose contract expires in the summer, came off the bench in Sunday's play-off final win over Swindon at Wembley. "I thought this would be my last season," he told BBC Radio Lancashire. "I feel I can play for another year but it is dependant on whether or not anybody is interested in me." Davies played 44 games in the 2014-15 season, starting 15, having started 31 of the 46 matches he featured in a season earlier. 'Super' Kev in numbers Kevin Davies has scored 150 goals in a 21-year career which has seen him play more than 800 games. The former Blackburn, Southampton and Chesterfield man scored 84 goals in 407 appearances for Bolton Wanderers before joining Preston North End in 2013. "I didn't start as many matches as I would have liked but that is because of the quality in the squad," Davies said. "Whether I am here or not next year, I expect Preston to do really well in the Championship." The former Bolton forward, who won his only England cap in 2010, said he will begin to consider a career in management if a playing offer fails to materialise. "If no-one comes in for me, I will look to the other side of the game, in terms of coaching and managing one day," he said. "It is something I am really interested in."
