Preston North End defender Paul Huntington was astonished at the full time whistle following Port Vale’s double penalty salvo in Friday’s 2-2 draw.
Whilst Huntington had no issue with the second of those spot kicks being awarded, he was adamant that the referee got his decision wrong for the first in what looked like a 50/50 tussle between Tom Clarke and Tom Pope at the back post; Pope himself surprised by the outcome. “There was nothing in it at all,” said Huntington, when asked about the first of three spot kicks awarded at Vale Park. “That’s not me being biased; I’ll hold my hands up as we all did to the foul by John Welsh for the second one, that’s a penalty. “We are an honest group of players and Tom just got his body in the way of their striker – he [Pope] couldn’t believe it, he was laughing. “Tom is just seeing the ball out, he has got his body between the man and the ball, the ball is going out for a throw in and we couldn’t believe it
