Preston North End’s promotion rivals Bristol City and MK Dons both won on Tuesday night as the race to reach the Championship hotted up.
City, who visit Deepdale in a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday, beat Swindon Town 3-0 at Ashton Gate.
That stretched the lead for Steve Cotterill’s men at the League One summit to eight points, although North End now have a game in hand on them.
A second defeat on the spin for Swindon left them 10 points adrift of PNE having played a game less.
The Wiltshire side still have to visit Deepdale on April 25.
MK Dons’ 2-0 win over Scunthorpe, courtesy of two early goals from Will Grigg, put them five points behind North End on the same number of games.
Fifth-place Sheffield United beat Doncaster Rovers 3-2 at Bramall Lane.
North End claimed maximum points over Easter, beating Rochdale 1-0 on Good Friday and Bradford City 3-0 on Easter Monday.
