After watching his Crewe Alex side hammered 5-1 at Preston on Saturday, manager Steve Davis said: "It's not the end of the world, three points have been lost.

"We did really well to get ourselves back in it, after conceding two poor goals, and I thought we deserved Ollie's (Turton) goal. We were pleased with 2-1 at half-time.

"We had a decent amount of play after the restart and got the ball in the net for the equaliser, which was disallowed. That was a game-changing moment.

"It could have been 2-2, but then we were 3-1 down, and in the last 20 minutes they just wore us down. Costly errors were made.

"It was the referee's decision to disallow the goal, I felt he bottled it a big in front of a big crowd. I didn't see a lot wrong with it.

"I felt for 70 minutes we played reasonably well, we tried to change the tactics. It didn't work and in the last 20 minutes - we didn't capitulate - but we struggled to hold them.

"We have done well at home against big clubs, but away from home we have a problem.

"We have to step up to it, it happens too ofetn when we look like we are in the game then suddenly the game is taken from us.

"We have to be stronger and cut out mistakes."
